Bit of an intense day. Made a lot of progress on Borderlands TPS, but also overdid it trying to get the yard mowed. Definitely took the fight out of me and delayed my writing schedule. Only three achievements left, though. So close yet so far.
Circumstances had conspired against my mowing plans for several weeks. Mostly weather related. Nothing like waking up in the morning to get started and finding out it’s actively raining or storming out. Since I’m getting laser hair removal, and it’s absolute soup outside in the afternoon, it’s best if I minimize sun exposure and heat stroke. Pretty sure I came close to the latter this morning as it is.
I always find it a bit amusing that working in manufacturing for so long has left me with a persistent sense of safety. I have a lot of quirky little habits I’ve developed as a result of following those rules. I almost always stand still when using my phone, because that’s the rule at work. I’ve definitely seen some people out and about doing things you’d have to pay me a lot more money to do. In particular, I saw two people in a boom lift with no safety harness or anything a while back. That’s a hard pass.
How to monitor and manage heat stress is a big one though. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve never collapsed at work, but many have. We always get extra heat-related training around the beginning of summer, and periodically throughout. Even still, mistakes happen.
My inability to make headway on the yard for several weeks means that today was a bit intense. The normal pattern is one tank of gas. This is usually enough to cover everything I’ve already dealt with and do a little extra. Today was more like a tank and a half just to get caught up.
On the upside, I had nearly finished my step goal by 9A, and I’ve done that much again just dealing with groceries and work stuff. That’s a really good start to my exercise plan for the week.
I was hoping I’d catch a topic here but it just doesn’t seem to be working. I’ll leave it there and ship it.
Y’all take care. Stay safe, stay hydrated. The sun is a deadly laser.
