So, I finally managed to get enough clears this weekend to buy the weapon I was looking for. Sadly, it never dropped, though I did pick up a variety of other weapons along the way, including the Drk weapon, so that’s a nice bonus.
As far as difficulty goes, I don’t think it’s all that bad, really, just extreme(ly) unforgiving. Still, some of our clears involved simple typically-wipe level mistakes and still managed to pull it off anyway. I’m glad to be done with it nonetheless.
This leaves us with E1S moving forward. I’ve found it to be very similar to TE. Specifically, in that the mechanics themselves aren’t overly rediculous, but require that everyone be exactly where they’re supposed to be when they’re supposed to be there. The DPS check is somewhat less forgiving though, generally requiring all or most of the DPS to not have res sickness.
One of the other factors that make it more difficult is how quickly the fights progress. Most of the mechanics in TE are very evenly spaced and you have a little time to stop and process what’s coming next. E1S is much more aggressive and fast-paced. If you start focusing on your hotbar or rotation there’s a solid chance you’re going to miss the tell for a mechanic and be misplaced.
It’s a very different side of the community that what I’m accustomed to as well. Many of the people in the game are fairly friendly and easy to get along with. I’ve made random friends just petting random sprouts while I’m out gathering low-level materials. With Savage, though, we’ve had to disband entire groups just to start inter-party bickering over who did or didn’t do what and reporting each other for saying “we’ll never clear like this.” It’s a much darker and less friendly side of the game, I guess.
My attempts to recruit people for a static group have been a little mixed as well. Most people find our slightly earlier than normal time-table to be inconvenient, and some others have naturally had an issue with the days we choose to work on it. At the moment there’s only about three of us at any given time, so it’s mostly still PUG life. I have faith that we’ll get there eventually.
On a lighter note, I’ve been spending a lot of time working on my gatherers and crafters and trying to push the airship/submersible to new heights (depths?) This is partially due to my trying to get a specific glamour piece, but also geared toward getting the higher end aetherial wheel tables for some better buffs. We do have several new people and it would be nice to get some of those grade 3 buffs going. That’s going to be a while, yet, I think. First we have to collectively get the crafting classes together to do materials and advance things. We’re getting there, slowly.
Either way, I think that’s most everything that’s going on this weekend. Y’all take care, I hope you’re all having as much fun as I am.
In case you haven’t heard, we’re in the middle of an event called Blaugust. The goal is to simply promote and stimulate the blogging community by encouraging people of all skill levels and backgrounds to post. The official post can be found here and it’s never too late to start.
